2009S1 Week2: Cinematography – Framing & Composition!

Dear all,

Here’s the lecture notes we have gone through on Monday. Please read through them again on your own so that you get familiar with the concepts, and start visualizing in your head how you would draw anything from now onwards. These 3D visualization concepts and framing compositin are necessary for making understandable storyboards for games and other visual art (eg. concept art for games or animation).

Lecture PPT: lecture-cinematography-p1

Tutorial:

Please make sure you prepared the presentation of the topic of Lighting which your team has chosen, and save your presentation files and URLs in a thumbdrive for Monday’s lesson.

Also, you are to draw the shaded rounded object on A4 size sketchpad. We shall review the drawings in the next tutorial.

Practical:

Download these files, and make sure you read through the notes, and refer to it while attempting the practical. Part 1 is for exploration, and you MUST go through it to get familiar with the modeling environment, so that you would be able to do Part 2 and Part 3. We shall go through your completed work (Part 2 and Part 3) in the next Practical session.

Practical files: practical-2-maya-notes-i , practical-2-maya-exercise-i

Enjoy!

See you all on Monday, 9 am sharp.
